About the Role & Team

 

IDC is seeking a Consulting Manager to work in our Customs Solutions group.  The successful Consulting Manager will be able to engage clients to understand requirements and support delivery of custom market research projects to meet those needs. In this role, you will manage client communications and as part of a team facilitate on-time, high quality market research-based deliverables and customer experience with an eye towards growing customer relationships and business outcomes. 
 
The role will entail active management of day-to-day communications and engagement milestones with both external clients and internal stakeholders. The Consulting Manager will partner with IDC’s centers of expertise, IDC analysts, sales, and other groups such as outside contractors as appropriate to yield the highest value for our customers. 
 
This role will offer growth opportunities in the form of varied exposure to IDC’s custom solutions, experience in specific market research methodologies, and client leadership. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Operate with a client-centric orientation to maximize IDC value in terms of quality, timeliness, and customer experience. 
  • Manage projects that satisfy client requirements and address project specifications and timelines as proposed. 
  • Manage quality assurance in every stage of the engagement, e.g., proof-reading for accuracy, ensuring quality assurance on a dataset, etc. 
  • Leverage his/her experience and IDC’s knowledge base to drive high-impact deliverable and content creation during project delivery and steer/moderate client conversations. 
  • Work with analyst teams to develop customized content narratives, structure analysis and drive overall engagement design. 
  • Contribute to, review and discuss deliverables with analyst delivery teams to achieve high quality and impactful client deliverables 
  • Set and manage client expectations including: 
  • Create and monitor workplans 
  • Effective meeting management 
  • Driving ongoing team communications (internal & external) 
  • Managing project budgets and accounting related to engagements (revenue and expense recognition) 
  • Manage competing priorities 
  • Orchestrating diverse internal and external project contributors 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, master’s degree is not required but a plus (MBA, etc.) 
  • 3-5 years of professional experience with a focus on client service and project management 
  • Subject matter expertise and a working knowledge of the ICT market is advantageous - A macro-level and ecosystem understanding of a broad set of technology topics and themes is desirable.  
  • Understanding of market research and related methodologies (e.g., qualitative and quantitative research, market modeling, etc.) 
  • Experienced in MS Office PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook 
  • Proven skills with Excel are expected and the candidate should be comfortable with performing calculations and analysis in Excel 
  • The ability to bring productive energy and intellectual leadership to cross-disciplinary project teams consisting of analyst subject matter experts and other IDC resources to bring the best out of the analysis and custom insights generated on projects. 
  • Strong analytical skills and writing ability are required for this position as well as the ability to present project findings confidently to senior audiences. 
  • Excellent communication skills with written and oral communications 
  • Strong project management skills are essential. PMP certification a plus 
  • Travel generally less than 10%
