About the Role & Team
IDC is seeking a Primary Researcher to join our Global Primary Research and Data Science team. This role manages the end-to-end survey research process, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of primary research data that supports IDC’s global market intelligence services. The Primary Researcher will design, execute, and deliver survey-based research that meets stakeholder objectives and methodological standards. Working closely with IDC analysts, consultants, and business leaders, this role translates research goals into actionable survey programs, coordinates with external research partners, and helps transform data into insights that support clients' decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong survey management experience with analytical expertise and a commitment to quality.
What You’ll Do
- Stakeholder Collaboration. Partner with internal research analysts, consultants, and business units to define the purpose and objectives of each survey, translating business goals into actionable research plans.
- Survey Design & Planning. Recommend appropriate research methodologies and sample designs; define sample sizes and respondent targeting criteria based on statistical and business requirements.
- Questionnaire Development. Collaborate with stakeholders to draft, refine, and finalize survey questionnaires, ensuring clarity, logical flow, and data validity.
- Vendor & Fieldwork Management. Coordinate with external survey partners and vendors to ensure timely, high-quality execution, monitoring response rates, quotas, and field progress.
- Data Quality & Delivery. Oversee data collection integrity, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of survey data.
- Analysis & Reporting. Support internal clients in analyzing survey results using company-provided analytics and dashboard tools. Generate insights, summaries, and visualizations that address business questions.
- Project & Time Management. Manage multiple concurrent projects across different research areas, ensuring milestones and SLAs are met consistently.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Market Research, Statistics, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in survey or research project management (B2B or technology industry experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of quantitative research methods, sampling principles, and data analysis.
- Hands-on experience managing survey vendors and using survey platforms.
- Proficiency with analytics tools or dashboarding software (e.g., Power BI, SPSS, R, KnowledgeHound, Crunch, DisplayR, Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a focus on detail and quality.
- Interest or experience in applying AI tools to streamline survey processes is a plus.
