About the Role & Team

 

IDC is looking for a manager to lead the Imaging/Printing team in Japan. In this role, he/she will have the opportunity to work on several of IDC's device programs, including imaging devices, such as printers and multifunction peripherals (MFPs), as well as other areas. The candidate will be responsible for fieldwork interviews, analyzing data, and providing actionable recommendations to customers, including presentations and custom projects. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to ask inquisitive questions, interpret complex data from both quantitative and qualitative sources, and have strong verbal communication skills to deliver meaningful insights to customers.

 

What You'll Do

 

•  Conduct primary research to gather data on imaging devices sales trends while developing a network of industry contacts

•  Evaluate competitive positioning in the industry and anticipate future trends and work environment evolutions

•  Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders

•  Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of all program deliverables

•  Manage a small team of employees including goal-setting, coaching, and performance management

•  Engage in marketing activities including media engagements where appropriate

•  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop customized market models

 

What You Bring

 

•  Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance/economics, statistics, or engineering with a strong understanding of economic principles and their application to market analysis

•  5+ years of work experience, preferably in the market research or technology industry. Experience or interest in the imaging devices, office workflow solutions/services, device components/parts, and/or semiconductors sector is a bonus.

•  Strong Japanese written and verbal communication skills, preferably with presentation experience. Fluency in English is also required for internal communications and coordination

•  Capable of conducting primary research, particularly in-person interviews and an ability to build relationships over time

•  Skilled in analysing datasets with attention to detail in analysis and report preparation. Efficient in managing multiple research projects, meeting deadlines, and problem-solving while working in a team-based environment.

•  Good communication skills for both internal and external. Coaching abilities to develop the skills of junior analysts

•  Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required

•  Hybrid work model with occasional travel
