About the Role & Team
IDC, a global leader in technology market intelligence, seeks an Editor, Chinese, to join its publishing team. This role is essential for upholding IDC’s high standards of clarity, accuracy, and consistency in its research deliverables, particularly for Chinese-language content. The Editor will be responsible for proofreading, language editing, data checking, and translation review, supporting the high-quality publication of IDC research authored by analysts worldwide.
Based in the Philippines, this position works closely with analysts, other editors, and production teams across global regions and time zones. The role focuses on reviewing and editing Chinese-language research reports, as well as reviewing English-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-English translations, including machine-translated and ML-generated content, to ensure alignment with IDC’s editorial standards, research architecture, and publishing guidelines.
The ideal candidate will possess strong Chinese-language editorial skills, familiarity with business and technology terminology, and the ability to collaborate effectively with global stakeholders. What You’ll Do
- Edit and proofread Chinese-language market research reports, presentations, white papers, and other written materials to ensure accuracy in grammar, terminology, clarity, style, and overall readability
- Perform language editing, data checking, and consistency checks to ensure alignment with IDC’s editorial standards, research architecture, and style guidelines
- Review English-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-English translations, including machine-translated and ML-generated content, and make corrections as needed to ensure quality, accuracy, and appropriate tone
- Collaborate closely with analysts, editors, and production teams across global regions and time zones to support the timely high-quality publication of research deliverables
- Review and validate the use of business, technology, and market terminology, as well as data interpretations, to enhance clarity and readability for professional audiences
- Prioritize and manage assigned tasks based on project timelines, research schedules, and operational business needs, in accordance with service-level agreements (SLAs)
- Provide clear and constructive editorial feedback to analysts to support improvements in writing quality, structure, flow, and clarity
- Support quality assurance processes and ensure adherence to IDC quality standards, including the appropriate use of relevant AI tools
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of editorial workflows and guidelines within the publishing team
What You Bring
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Chinese language, linguistics, communications, journalism, or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Experience: A minimum of two years' professional editing experience, preferably in a business, technology, consulting, market research, or publishing environment
- Language Skills: Strong command of written Simplified Chinese; proficiency in Traditional Chinese a strong advantage; ability to review and edit English-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-English translations, including machine-translated and ML-generated content
- English Proficiency: Working proficiency in written English sufficient to review source content, assess translation quality, and communicate effectively with global stakeholders
- Subject-Matter Familiarity: Familiarity with business, technology, and market research terminology; understanding of IT-related topics such as cloud computing, IoT, data analytics, AI, cybersecurity, and software and how such markets are developing a strong advantage
- Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and PowerPoint); familiarity with AI‑powered grammar and writing assistance tools (e.g., Grammarly), editorial workflows, and content management systems (CMS)
- Work Style: Ability to manage multiple assignments, work under tight deadlines, and respond constructively to editorial feedback
- Collaboration: Comfortable working with teams around the globe, with clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the Philippines (no visa sponsorship available for this role)
